They also barred any media from attending the event, for some reason. I think that this is a very odd event to happen, but that could also be due to the fact that I don't know much about politics in general. But I do find things odd that their governing power had profited over something such as visas. In fact, the Chinese government who are buying the land from Shanghai stated that they were only interested in buying because they were buying from a trump-son with their company. Here is a quote with some context from the article "SHANGHAI Organizers barred journalists on Sunday from a publicly advertised event in Shanghai to attract Chinese investment in a U.S. real estate project linked to the family of President Donald Trump's son-in-law in exchange for immigrant visas. Jared Kushner, whose White House portfolio includes relations with China, sold his stake in Kushner Companies to a family trust early this year. POPULAR WITH WEALTHY CHINESE. One potential investor, Sophie Xing, said a "Very important" factor in her decision to attend Sunday's event was the fact that the project was a Kushner Companies investment and that Trump's son-in-law's sister would be showing up in Shanghai." This is some mighty fine conflict of interests right here. It to bad there is nothing in the constitution making such conflict of interest illegal... Oh wait there totally is. I, like our president, seem to have forgotten.

You would think by now the president would know where the line is drawn in terms of how far he could screw the Constitution, but nooooo.

Yes the conflict of interest is the major ethical reason here. He is under a large stress regarding who and what should be put above the other, I however think that as a president the country should be put above all else during the term.

I definitely agree that this is problematic and related only because the conflict of interest. I think that other countries should not be fascinated with the idea of doing business with the Trump family because this is how they will continue their stardom and profits. I hate to think that China is interested only because of the celebrity clientele, I don't think thats any way to conduct business.

This is definitely a conflict of interest and it could be unfortunately setting an example for other countries to use the Trumps for their fame. Trump is definitely a president that doesn't seem to mind bending the rules for his own agenda.

Typical Donald Trump always breaks the rules for his own personal preferences. China is only interested about people with money and people that are well known and that is not a way to conduct business.

Hello Martin, like to everyone that has commented on your post, I agree that this is a conflict of interest. Trump is basically using the presidency to drive his business and to make sure his family's success increases. This also means that he's spending less time as the President and more as a business man.

It is concerning that the President does not seem to keep his business separate from the government. While strong economic policy can benefit people, the government as a system developed for the people has more responsibilities than making money.

Not a Trump supporter, but this story has actually changed several times since it was first reported. We also need to keep in mind that unless you truly understand Chinese culture we may not be getting an accurate and honest report of what really happened.

I think its very unfortunate that this is happening. The first thing that comes to mind is that only the wealthy are really able to but real-estate, making them the only ones that can obtain a visa.
